There is a 10 minute grace period right after you book in case you need to cancel up to 45 mins before your reservation. Cancellations are also free if you cancel your reservation 12 hours or more before the start of the reservation. You can easily cancel your reservation from www.pingpod.com/now (the ping pong paddle icon) through the “Cancel Reservation” button.
After that, there is a minimal charge of $5/hour of reserved time up to 2 hours before your reservation. If you cancel within 2 hours you will be charged $5/hour of reserved time less than what your reservation would have been. You will receive the $5 rebate in the form of an account credit which can be redeemed for future purchases. You can see the account credit as PingPod Dollars on your profile page.
The reason for a charge for “last minute” cancellations is that it most likely prevented another player from booking that slot. Cancellation fees incentivize people to cancel as early as possible so that other customers have ample opportunity to book that slot.
Even if you cancel one minute before the start of your reservation you will still receive a $5/hour rebate in form of PingPod Dollars. This encourages customers to cancel rather than not show up so that someone else can play during that time.
